The Northern Lakes


Lake Garda is located in Italy's Lombardi region between Breschia and Verona. Garda Lake lies between high mountains, olive groves and vineyards, the northern section of Lake Garda is quite scenic. Gardaland is nearby, a famous amusement park.external image gardasee_ferienhaus.jpg

Lake Maggiore, or Lago di Maggiore, is one of Italy's largest and most popular lakes. Formed from a glacier, the lake is surrounded by hills in the south and mountains in the north. It's a long and narrow lake, about 65 kilometers long but only 1 to 4 kilometers in width, with a total distance around the lakeshore of 150 kilometers. Offering year-round tourist activities and a fairly mild climate, the lake can be visited almost any time of year.

Lake Como, Lago di Como in Italian, is Italy's most popular lake and also its deepest. Lake Como is shaped like an inverted Y giving it a long perimeter. The lake is surrounded by beautiful villas and resort villages as well as hiking paths and it's popular for boat trips and water activities.external image lago-di-como1_104.jpg
